Braunschweig, also called Brunswick in English, is a city located in the state of Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated north of the Harz mountains at the furthest navigable point of the Oker river, which connects to the North Sea via the rivers Aller and Weser. A powerful and influential centre of commerce in medieval Germany, Braunschweig was a member of the Hanseatic League from the 13th until the 17th century. It was the capital city of three successive states. Today, Braunschweig is the second largest city in Lower Saxony and a major centre of scientific research and development.

Monschau is a small resort town in the Eifel region of western Germany. The historic town center has many preserved half-timbered houses and narrow streets have remained nearly unchanged for 300 years, making the town a popular tourist attraction nowadays. And an open-air, classical music festival is staged annually at Burg Monschau. On the heights above the city is Monschau castle, which dates back to the 13th century. Some of the castle is in ruins, most notably what is known as The Haller. Its West Wing has been a Youth Hostel since the First World War and its grey stones makes the perfect backdrop for the summer concerts and operas held here.

Monschau is a laid back resort town surrounded by a beautiful landscape with a 14C castle commanding the hill above.

Bruges has most of its medieval architecture intact. The historic centre of Bruges has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000. Many of its medieval buildings are notable, including the Church of Our Lady, whose brick spire reaches 122.3m, making it one of the world's highest brick towers/buildings. The sculpture Madonna and Child, which can be seen in the transept, is believed to be Michelangelo's only sculpture to have left Italy within his lifetime. Bruges' most famous landmark is its 13th-century belfry, housing a municipal carillon comprising 48 bells. The city still employs a full-time carillonneur, who gives free concerts on a regular basis.
