Kilkee is a small coastal town in County Clare, Ireland. The town is popular as a seaside resort. The local beach - horseshoe bay - is protected from the Atlantic Ocean by the Duggerna Reef. The town has many restaurants, pubs and caf├ęs. After the last weekend of August the town empties and many businesses close until the next summer. Along with bathing on the strand, swimmers can choose from the Pollock Holes, New Found Out and Byrnes Cove and the town has a reputation as a place to enjoy diving - Jacques Cousteau declared that it was the best place in Europe for diving, and one of the top five in the world.
