Pozzuoli is a city and comune of the Metropolitan City of Naples, in the Italian region of Campania. It is the main city of the Phlegrean Peninsula. Pozzuoli began as the Greek colony of Dicaearchia. The Roman colony was established in 194 BC, and took the name Puteoli which it has his roots from 'puteus', meaning well (also used by sibyls to predict the future) and 'osco fistulus' (cave). An alternative etymology of Puteoli from the Latin puteo (to stink), referring to the sulfuric smell in the area, most notably from Solfatara. This is because Pozzuoli lies in the center of the Campi Flegrei, a volcanic caldera.

Palinuro is an Italian small town, the most populated civil parish (frazione) of Centola, Province of Salerno, in the Campania region. The name of the town is derived from Palinurus, the helmsman of Aeneas, as recorded in the fifth and sixth books of the Aeneid. Palinuro is part of the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park, an area of "shrubland" typical of Mediterranean countries. It is popular with tourists, especially in summer, due to the cleanliness of its waters and beautiful beaches; and is regularly awarded five stars Blue Flag. The town is also famous for the caves along its coast, which are regularly visited, especially by frogmen.

Caserta is the capital of the province of Caserta in the Campania region of Italy. Located just over 22 miles north of Naples, at the foot of the Campanian Subapennine mountain range, Caserta is an important agricultural, commercial, and industrial comune and city. The iconic Palace of Caserta and gardens, designed in the 18th century for the Bourbon monarchs and reminiscent of the Palace of Versailles, are the city's most popular attraction.

Pando, Prince of Capua, built the defensive tower in Lombard times and established the city around it. In 863, Pando then destroyed the city and the tower later became part of the Palazzo della Prefuttura, a royal residence.
