Kranjska Gora is a town on the Sava Dolinka River in the Upper Carniola region of northwestern Slovenia, close to the Austrian and Italian borders. The town is best known as a winter sports town, being situated in the Julian Alps. It annually hosts an event in the Alpine skiing World Cup series, also known as the Vitranc Cup, for the slalom and giant slalom events. The well-known ski jumping hill Planica is located in the nearby Tamar Valley. The local church is noteworthy - built in the 14th century, it is late Gothic in style and has a typical Carinthian rib vaulting.

The castle of Štanjel was built in the Middle Ages now hosts an art gallery with a permanent collection of the graphic artist Lojze Spacal's work. The Ferrari Garden is a major landmark in the settlement and one of the most visited ones. It was designed by Maks Fabiani at the request of Enrico Ferrari. The garden is located below the village, next to a villa and is popular among tourists because of its design and the view it offers of the Karst landscape below.

Every June the two-week Festival Lent is held, with hundreds of musical, theatrical and other events.
