It is the fourth most populous city in Turkey and one of the most industrialized metropolitan centers in the country. It has become proliferated with parks and gardens located across its urban fabric, as well as to the vast and richly varied forests of the surrounding region. Antalya

Turkey, Mediterranean region

BeachesNight lifeFoodHistoricCulture6 nightsFri. Jun 07 - Thu. Jun 13

Turkey's largest Mediterranean coastal city is home to some of the country's finest beaches, and is dotted with historic sites.

Antalya is the eighth most populous city in Turkey and the capital of its eponymous province. Located on Anatolia's flourishing southwest coast bordered by the Taurus Mountains, Antalya is the largest Turkish city on the Mediterranean coast. Roman rule saw Antalya thrive, including the construction of new monuments, such as Hadrian's Gate. Kaleici, with its narrow cobbled streets of historic Ottoman era houses, is the old center of Antalya. With its hotels, bars, clubs, restaurants, and shopping, it has been restored to retain much of its historical character. There are also archaeological sites with traces of Lycian, Pamphylian, Roman, and Byzantine architecture and cultures.

Goreme

Turkey, Central Anatolia region

HistoricNatureActiveSmall towns2 nightsThu. Jun 13 - Sat. Jun 15

Beautifully situated among fantastical rocky peaks, the small, laid-back town of Goreme has a unique, otherworldly feel.

Goreme, located among the "fairy chimney" rock formations, is a town in Cappadocia, a historical region of Turkey. The time that the Goreme was first settled is unclear, but it could date back as the Hittite era, between 1800 and 1200 B.C. The location was central between rivaling empires, such as the Greeks and Persians. During the Roman era, the area became home to Christians retreating from Rome. Its main sights include the Ortahane, Durmus Kadir, Yusuf Koc and Bezirhane churches, in addition to the richly decorated Tokali Kilise, the Apple Church, and a number of homes and pigeon houses carved straight into the rock formations in the town.

In the city itself, one can find a hub of shops, stalls and restaurants surrounding the Meydan, a square in the center of the city, which includes a tea garden. Its main attractions are Hagia Sophia Church, Trabzon Castle, Trabzon Museum, and the Trabzon Bazaar.
