Cologne was one of the most heavily bombed cities in Germany during World War II. The bombing destroyed almost the entire city. With the intention of restoring as many historic buildings as possible, the rebuilding has resulted in a very mixed and unique cityscape.

Nis is one of the most important industrial centers in Serbia, a center of electronics industry, industry of mechanical engineering, textile and tobacco industry. It attractions include Bubanj Memorial Park, Nis Fortress, Mediana Archaeological Site, and more.
