Karlsruhe is a city in southwest Germany. Karlsruhe Palace was built in 1715 and the city is now the seat of two of the highest courts in Germany, the Federal Constitutional Court and the Federal Court of Justice. Main attractions : The Stadtgarten is a recreational area near the main railway station and was rebuilt in 1967 during the 'Federal Garden Show. It is also the site of the Karlsruhe Zoo. The Durlacher Turmberg has a look-out tower. It is a former keep dating back to the 13th century. The Marktplatz has a stone pyramid marking the grave of the city's founder. Built in 1825, it is the emblem of Karlsruhe.

While commonly associated with the Third Reich, Nuremberg's history begins in the 11C, thus offering a wealth of varied sites.

Nuremberg was, according to the first documentary mention of the city in 1050, the location of a roman Imperial castle and is often referred to as having been the 'unofficial capital' of the Holy Roman Empire. Because of the city's relevance to the Holy Roman Empire and its position in the centre of Germany, the Nazi Party chose the city to be the site of huge Nazi Party conventions – the Nuremberg rallies. Between 1945 and 1946, German officials involved in war crimes and crimes against humanity were brought before an international tribunal in the Nuremberg Trials. Sites in Nuremberg include: Nuremberg Castle an Heilig-Geist-Spital, the largest hospital of the Middle Ages.

Mainz is a town in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The city is located on the river Rhine at its confluence with the Main opposite Wiesbade. The city is famous as the home of the invention of the movable-type printing press, as the first books printed using movable type were manufactured in Mainz in the early 1450s. Main sites: Romano-Germanic Central Museum. It is home to Roman, Medieval, and earlier artifacts. Museum of Ancient Seafaring. It houses the remains of five Roman boats from the late 4th century. Roman remains, including Jupiter's column, Drusus' mausoleum, the ruins of the theatre and the aqueduct. Mainz Cathedral of St. Martin, over 1,000 years old.
