It is also the largest city in a mountain resorts area. The old city is very well preserved and is best seen by taking the cable-car to the top of Tampa Mountain. Other attractions include Biserica Neagra, the Schei district, Catherine's Gate, and the Brasov Citadel.

There are also archaeological sites with traces of Lycian, Pamphylian, Roman, and Byzantine architecture and cultures.
