Sprawled along the Adriatic coast, this small city features a promenade of shops, cafes, restaurants, and bars overlooking the harbor.

It is a tourist centre, located on a horseshoe shaped bay between the Biokovo mountains and the Adriatic Sea. The city is noted for its palm-fringed promenade, where fashionable cafes, bars and boutiques overlook the pretty harbour where many pleasure craft are moored. Adjacent to the beach are several large capacity hotels as well as a camping ground. The center of Makarska is an old town with narrow stone-paved streets, a main church square where there is a flower and fruit market, and a Franciscan monastery that houses a sea shell collection featuring a giant clam shell.

Situated near the Durmitor National Park, this 19C town is recognized as Montenegro's center for mountain tourism.

Zabljak is a small town in northern Montenegro. The town is in the center of the Durmitor mountain region and with an altitude of 1,456m, it is the highest situated town on the Balkans. All that has remained of its original buildings is the old church of Holy Transfiguration, built in 19C as a monument to a Montenegrin victory in the battle against the Ottoman Empire. In the 1880s Zabljak became a market town, leading it to become administrative center of the region. Before WWII, Zabljak's unique nature was drawing the attention of tourists from the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, and also from abroad, especially Italy. Podgorica

Montenegro, Central region

CultureFoodNight life2 nightsThu. Nov 28 - Sat. Nov 30

The capital and the largest city in Montenegro, Podgorica is a cultural hub offering museums, churches, and fine palaces.

Podgorica is the capital and largest city of Montenegro. Its favorable position at the confluence of the Ribnica and Moraca rivers and the meeting point of the fertile Zeta Plain and Bjelopavlici Valley has encouraged settlement. The city is close to winter ski centers in the north and seaside resorts on the Adriatic Sea. Podgorica's mixture of architectural styles reflects the turbulent history of the city and country: as one regime replaced another, the corresponding style was introduced. Its main attractions include Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, Podgorica City Museum, Natural History Museum of Montenegro, Petrovic Palace, Skaline, St. George Church, and more.

HistoricSmall townsNatureActiveNight life2 nightsSat. Nov 30 - Mon. Dec 02

A port town located off the Gulf of Kotor, popular with travelers for its natural beauty, and several historic landmarks.

Kotor is a coastal town in Montenegro. It is located in a secluded part of the Bay of Kotor. The old Mediterranean port of Kotor is surrounded by fortifications built during the Venetian period. It is located on the Bay of Kotor (Boka Kotorska), one of the most indented parts of the Adriatic Sea. Some have called it the southern-most fjord in Europe, but it is a ria, a submerged river canyon. Together with the nearly overhanging limestone cliffs of Orjen and Lovćen, Kotor and its surrounding area form an impressive and picturesque Mediterranean landscape. Main sights include Cathedral of St. Tryphon, Fortifications of KotorMaritime Museum, St. John Fortress, and more.
