Antwerp Zoo was founded in 1843, and is home to more than 6,000 animals (about 769 species). One of the oldest zoos in the world, it is renowned for its high level of research and conservation. Antwerp had an artistic reputation in the 17C, based on its school of painting, which included Rubens, Van Dyck, Jordaens, the two Teniers and many others. Antwerp is home to many interesting sites and museums.

Dortmund is an independent city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is in the middle part of the state and is considered to be the administrative, commercial and cultural center of the region. It is the 8th largest city in Germany. Founded in 882, it is only in the 13th to 14th centuries that it became the "chief city" of the region. After the Thirty Years' War the city decreased in significance until the onset of industrialization. The city then became one of Germany's most important coal, steel and beer centers until the 1970s. Its main attractions include several wonderful churches, great museums of art and local culture, a few Renaissance castles, and great parkland.

Vitebsk, or Vitsebsk, is a city in Belarus. The capital of the Vitebsk Region, being the country's fourth largest city. It is served by Vitebsk Vostochny Airport and Vitebsk air base. Vitebsk developed from a river harbor where the Vitba River (Віцьба, from which it derives its name) flows into the larger Western Dvina, which is spanned in the city by the Kirov Bridge. Archaeological research indicates that at the mouth of Vitba there were settlements by Baltic tribes, which were replaced in the 9th century by Slavic tribes Krivichs.
