Las Palmas to Oviedo

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is the co-capital and the most populous city in the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands. Las Palmas enjoys a subtropical climate, with mild to warm temperatures throughout the year. It was founded as a city in 1478, considered the de facto only capital of the Canary Islands until the seventeenth century. The city has four main beaches: Las Canteras, Las Alcaravaneras, La Laja, and El Confital.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the capital of the Canary Islands. The city is home to the Parliament of the Canary Islands, the Canarian Ministry of the Presidency, one half of the Ministries and Boards of the Canarian Government,, the Tenerife Provincial Courts and two courts of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands. The main landmarks of the city include the Auditorio de Tenerife, the Santa Cruz Towers and the Iglesia de la Concepcion. The city is a melting pot of diverse cultures that give it a cosmopolitan character.

Huelva is a city in southwestern Spain, the capital of the province of Huelva in the autonomous region of Andalusia. It is located along the Gulf of Cadiz coast, at the confluence of the Odiel and Tinto rivers. The city has been inhabited since 3000 BC.

Situated approximately 2421 feet above sea level, Granada is perched against the background of the snowy Sierra Nevada Mountains while also being close to the famous beaches of the Costa del Sol. To the west of the Nasrid Palaces in the Alhambra stands the magnificent Palace of Charles V, a Renaissance masterpiece designed by Pedro Machuca, an architect from Toledo who was a disciple of Michelangelo.

The city is located on a bend of the Guadalquivir River between the cultivated areas and cattle ranches of the Sierra de Cordoba range and the wheat fields and olive vineyards of the plains of Campania.

The Great Mosque of Cordoba, located in the city’s historic center, is among Spain's most precious treasures and most popular tourist attractions. Dating back to the late 8th century when the Muslims ruled the city, the mosque, built by Abd ar-Rahman, is one of Cordoba’s oldest structures.

The Medina Azahara, a magnificent Caliphate archaeological site located 4 miles west of Cordoba, was built in the mid-10th century by Abd al-Rahman III, a member of the Umayyad dynasty in Córdoba and the first caliph of Al-Andalus, and was destroyed shortly afterwards. Forgotten for close to 1000 years, the site was rediscovered in the early 20th century, and its restoration gives a glimpse into the glory of the Western Islamic Al-Andalus civilization.

The Jewish Quarter of Cordoba, known as the Juderia de Cordoba in Spanish, is a maze of narrow alleyways located in the city’s historic city center and is the area where the Jews lived from the 10th to the 15th centuries. 

The impressive palace was the residence of noble families until the end of the 20th century and is, today, a museum. The palace is known for its 12 beautiful patios and spectacular garden as well as for its outstanding display of antique furniture, embossed leather, tapestries, mosaics, and art collection.

Caceres is the capital of Caceres province, in the autonomous community of Extremadura, Spain. The Old Town still has its ancient walls; this part of town is also well known for its multitude of storks' nests. The walls contain a medieval town setting with no outward signs of modernity. Caceres was declared a World Heritage City by UNESCO in 1986 because of the city's blend of Roman, Moorish, Northern Gothic and Italian Renaissance architecture. Thirty towers from the Islamic period still stand in Caceres, of which the Torre del Bujaco is the most famous.

Founded in the 1C BC by the Romans, Merida retains an impressive number of Roman and Arabic architectural remains.

A city on the Portuguese border, known for its rich Moorish history, a ruined castle, a few museums, and a 12C cathedral.

Segovia, a World Heritage city in the autonomous community of Castile and Leon, is the capital of the Province of Segovia.

Aptly nicknamed, “the Town of Stones and Saints,” Avila has among the highest number of Romanesque and Gothic churches (and bars and restaurants) per capita in Spain.

On the banks of the Targus River, this town was the home to Spanish royalty and nobility, retaining some remarkable buildings.
