Myanmar, Yangon region

Night lifeHistoricFoodCulture1 nightFri. May 02 - Sat. May 03

With over 7 million people, Yangon is Myanmar's largest city and its most important commercial centre. Yangon boasts the largest number of colonial-era buildings in Southeast Asia, and has a unique colonial-era urban core that is remarkably intact. The colonial-era commercial core is centred around the Sule Pagoda, which is reputed to be over 2,000 years old. The city is also home to the gilded Shwedagon Pagoda — Myanmar's most sacred Buddhist pagoda. The mausoleum of the last Mughal Emperor is located in Yangon, where he had been exiled following the Indian Mutiny of 1857.

From the ancient Shwedagon Pagoda to the trendy downtown district, Myanmar's largest city is a must for all visitors.

Bagan is an ancient city located in the Mandalay Region of Myanmar. From the 9th to 13th Centuries, the city was the capital of the Pagan Kingdom, the first kingdom that unified the regions that would later constitute modern Myanmar. During the kingdom's height between the 11th and 13th Centuries, over 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas and monasteries were constructed in the Bagan plains alone, of which the remains of over 2,200 temples and pagodas still survive to the present day. The Bagan Archaeological Zone is a main attraction for the country's nascent tourism industry. It is seen by many as equal in attraction to Angkor Wat in Cambodia.

One of Myanmar's most popular destinations is a modest, traditional town, known for its wealth of breathtaking ancient temples.
