The island of Phuket, the country's largest island, comprises the majority of Phuket Province, along with another 32 smaller islands off its coast. It lies off the west coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea. Phuket Island is connected by the Sarasin Bridge to Phang Nga Province to the north. It formerly derived its wealth from tin and rubber, and enjoys a rich and colorful history. The island was on one of the major trading routes between India and China, and was frequently mentioned in foreign ship logs of Portuguese, French, Dutch, and English traders. The region now derives much of its income from tourism. Its attractions include a multitude of beaches and several cultural markers.

Ho Chi Minh City, formerly named and still also referred to as Saigon, is the largest city in Vietnam. It was once known as Prey Nokor, an important Khmer seaport prior to annexation by the Vietnamese in the 17C. Under the name Saigon, it was the capital of the French colony of Cochinchina and later of the independent republic of South Vietnam 1955–75. On 2 July 1976, Saigon merged with the surrounding Gia Dinh Province and was officially renamed Ho Chi Minh City after revolutionary leader Ho Chi Minh. The city's attractions include the temples, several architectural landmarks, the Cu Chi Tunnels, and several museums.

Once known as Saigon, this city is a mixture of towering skyscrapers and elegant temples, full of great food, history, and culture.

Kanchanaburi

Kanchanaburi is a town municipality in the west of Thailand and part of Kanchanaburi Province. In 2006 it had a population of 31,327. The town covers the complete tambon Ban Nuea and Ban Tai and parts of Pak Phraek and Tha Makham, all of Mueang Kanchanaburi district, and parts of the tambon Tha Lo of Tha Muang district. In the late 19th century, Kanchanaburi was established by King Rama I as a defensive outpost against possible Burmese attacks in what is now Lat Ya subdistrict. In 1833, the town was moved about 16 km towards the south-east along the river to its present site during the reign of King Rama III. Its attractions include poignant WWII memorials.

A vibrant town with a turbulent WWII history, Kanchanaburi offers easy access to nearby natural attractions and national parks.

Pai is a small town in northern Thailand's Mae Hong Son Province, near the Myanmar border, about 146km north-west of Chiang Mai on the northern route to Mae Hong Son. It lies on the Pai River. Today, Pai primarily thrives on tourism. Well-known among backpackers for its relaxed atmosphere, the town is full of cheap guesthouses, souvenir shops, and restaurants. In the environs of the town are spas and elephant camps. Further outside of town, there are several waterfalls and a number of natural hot springs. As Pai lies at the foot of the mountains, many tourists use it as a base for trekking and visiting hill tribes. Other attractions include the market and local cultures.

Nestled amidst breathtaking nature, this town is a hub for backpackers, offering an authentic Thai ambiance and great local food.

Founded in 11C, Battambang is known for being the leading rice-producing province of the country. For nearly 100 years, it was a major commercial hub and provincial capital of Siamese province of Inner Cambodia. Still today Battambang is the main hub of the Northwest connecting the entire region with Phnom Penh and Thailand. The city is situated by the Sangkae River, a tranquil, small body of water that winds its way through Battambang Province providing its nice picturesque setting. As with much of Cambodia, the French Colonial architecture is an attractive bonus of the city. It is home to some of the best preserved French colonial architecture in the country.
