Vic is the southernmost village in Iceland, located on the main ring road around the island. Despite its small size (291 inhabitants as of January 2011) it is the largest settlement for some 70 km around and is an important service center for the inhabitants and visitors to the coastal strip between Skogar and the west edge of the Myrdalssandur glacial outwash plain. In 1991, the US journal Islands Magazine counted Vic's beach as one of the ten most beautiful beaches on Earth.

Reykjavík is the capital and largest city of Iceland. Reykjavík is famous for its weekend nightlife - Icelanders tend to go out late, so bars that look rather quiet can fill up suddenly—usually after midnight on a weekend. There are over 100 different bars and clubs in Reykjavík most of them are located on Laugavegur and its side streets and it is very common for an establishment that is a café before dinner to turn into a bar in the evening.Laugavegur is also the main shopping street. Other attractions in town include the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa, National Museum of Iceland, Vikin Maritime Museum, Rauðhólar and the Heiðmörk forest.

Höfn is an Icelandic fishing town in the south-eastern part of the country, located on a peninsula in the south-east of Iceland near Hornafjörður fjord. Höfn contains several museums, including the exhibition about the Vatnajökulsþjóðgarð in Gamlabúð which has a variety of displays on the geology, ecology and history of the glacier. A cultural highlight of the town is the annual Humarhátíð (lobster festival) held on the first weekend of July. During the summer season, the Glacier Exhibition is held in the old supermarket building.

Húsavík is a town in Norðurþing municipality on the north coast of Iceland on the shores of Skjálfandi bay. The most famous landmark of the town is the wooden church Húsavíkurkirkja, built in 1907. Húsavík has become a centre of whale watching in Iceland due to whales of different species that frequently enter the bay and the Húsavík Whale Museum is located in the downtown area by the harbour. Jökulsárgljúfur National Park and Mývatn lake are near-by nature tourist attraction.
