Odessa is a city in Ukraine and a major seaport and transportation hub located on the northwestern shore of the Black Sea. Odessa is also an administrative center of the Odessa Oblast and a multiethnic major cultural center. Odessa is the third biggest city in Ukraine and known in Ukraine as Black Sea Pearl. In 1794, the city of Odessa was founded by a decree of the Empress Catherine the Great. From 1819 to 1858, Odessa was a free port. During the Soviet period it was the most important port of trade in the Soviet Union and a Soviet naval base. Vinnytsia is a city in west-central Ukraine, located on the banks of the Southern Bug. It is the administrative center of Vinnytsia Oblast and the largest city in the historic region of Podillia. Kamianets-Podilskyi is a city on the Smotrych River in western Ukraine, to the north-east of Chernivtsi. The first part of the city's dual name originates from kamin or kamen, meaning "stone" in the Old East Slavic language. The second part of the name relates to the historic region of Podolia of which Kamianets-Podilskyi is considered to be the historic capital. Its attractions include the castle, a Town Hall, and a nice historic center.

Lviv the largest city in western Ukraine and the seventh largest city in the country overall, is one of the main cultural centers of Ukraine. Lviv was the center of the historical region of Galicia.
