Minsk is the capital and largest city of Belarus, situated on the Svislach and Nyamiha rivers. It is the administrative center of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). As the national capital, Minsk has a special administrative status in Belarus and is the administrative center of Minsk Region (voblast) and Minsk raion (district). The earliest historical references to Minsk date to the 11C, when it was noted as a provincial city within the principality of Polotsk. Its attractions include Church of Saints Simon and Helena, Maksim Gorky Theather, National Opera and Ballet of Belarus, Island of Tears, and more.

Belarus' capital and largest city offers over a dozen museums, several notable churches, well-known theaters, and nice parks.

Brest, formerly also Brest-on-the-Bug and Brest-Litovsk, is a city in Belarus at the border with Poland opposite the Polish city of Terespol, where the Bug River and Mukhavets rivers meet. It is the capital city of the Brest voblast. The city of Brest is a historic site of many cultures. The city fortress was recognized by the Soviet Union as the Hero Fortress, a unique award. The city, during medieval times, was part of the Kingdom of Poland, Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Russian Empire, and USSR. Beyond the fortress, places of notice include the Brest Archaeological Museum, Brest Millennium Monument, Brest Railway Museum, and the city park.

Once a Slav town, the history of Brest stretches to the 11C. Visit its monuments and museums, and be sure to see the famed fortress.

Zilina is a city in north-western Slovakia, close to both the Czech and Polish borders. It is the fourth largest city of Slovakia, an important industrial center, the largest city on the Vah river, and the seat of the Zilina Region and the Zilina District. The historical center of the city, reconstructed in the early 1990s is protected as a city monument reserve. It is centered on the Marianske namestie and Andrej Hlinka squares, and its famed landmarks are Church of St. Paul the Apostle, Church of Saint Stephen the King, Budatin Castle and more. In addition, the city is a starting point for various locations of western and eastern Slovakia, such as Bojnice Castle or the Cicmany village.

The fourth largest city in Slovakia, the northwestern Zilina is a vital regional center and the biggest settlement on the Vah River.
