Chisinau is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Moldova. It is Moldova's main industrial and commercial center, and is located on the river Bic. Chisinau is the most economically prosperous locality in Moldova. Chisinau, as well as Moldova as a whole, still show signs of ethnic culture. While few people still wear traditional Moldavian attire, large public events often draw in such original costumes. In Chisinau there are several museums, including National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, Archaeology Museum,and National Museum of History of Moldova. Others attractions include Arch of Triumph, City Park, Stephen the Great Monument, and others.

Orhei is a city and the administrative center of Orhei District in Moldova with a population of 32,000. Orhei is approximately 40km north of the capital, Chisinau. Orhei was the first place in what was then known as Bessarabia, to have a successful tobacco industry. The area is also known for wine production. Other points of interest include the Jewish cemetery and the Orhei Lake.

Soroca is a Moldovan city in Eastern Europe situated on the Dniester river about 160km north of Chisinau. It is the administrative center of the Soroca District. The city has its origin in the medieval Genoese trade post of Olchionia, or Alchona. It is known for its well-preserved stronghold, established by the Moldavian prince Stephen the Great in 1499. Make sure to visit the fortress if you're in the area.

Balti is a city in Moldova. It is the second largest in terms of area and economic importance after Chisinau, and the third largest in terms of population after Chisinau and Tiraspol. The city is one of the five Moldovan municipalities. Sometimes also called "the northern capital", it is a major industrial, cultural and commercial center and transportation hub in the north of the country. It is situated 127km north of the capital Chisinau, and is located on the river Raut, a tributary of the Dniester, on a hilly landscape in the Balti steppe. Local points of interest may include Vasily Alexandri National Theatre, St. Constantine and Elena Cathedral, Stephen the Great Monument, and more.

Ungheni is the seventh largest town in Moldova and the seat of Ungheni District since 2003. The first historical mention of Ungheni dates to 20 August 1462. A railway between Ungheni and Chisinau was built in 1875 by Russia in preparation for the Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878). In 1876 after the spring flooding of the river Prut the railway bridge that linked Moldova and Romania was almost destroyed. Railway Department invited Gustave Eiffel in Bessarabia (Moldova) to redesign and rebuild the bridge. Nowadays it is still a strategic structure under the supervision of the frontier guard. Besides the Eiffel Bridge, you might also want to check the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.

Cahul is a city in southern Moldova. The city is the administrative center of Cahul District; it also administers one village, Cotihana. The city's location had made it a frequent battleground for a number of armies, with possession of frequently switching between countries such as Principality of Moldavia, Russian Empire, Ottoman Empire. Cahul is home to the Cahul Musical-Drama Theater, Cahul History Museum, and other public institutions and monuments. Cahul is also a destination as spa and health resort. The city and surrounding areas are richest with mineral springs enriched with bromine and iodine.

Comrat is a city in Moldova and the capital of the autonomous region of Gagauzia. It is located in the south of the country, on the Ialpug River. In 2004, Comrat's population was 23,429, of which the vast majority are Gagauzians. The name is of Turkic and Nogai origin. A city with extreme poverty, Comrat is situated in the southern wine zone of Moldova. It is known for production of red wines and muscats. In Comrat and its suburbs there are about 10 wine factories.

Tiraspol is internationally recognized as the second largest city in Moldova, but is effectively the capital and administrative center of the unrecognized Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (Transnistria). The city is located on the eastern bank of the Dniester River. Tiraspol is a regional hub of light industry, such as furniture and electrical goods production. The modern city of Tiraspol was founded by the Russian generalissimo Alexander Suvorov in 1792, although the area had been inhabited for thousands of years by varying ethnic groups.
