One example is the medieval festival held every summer at Gásir. Sites that have been cited as areas of interest include various museums, churches, and the Botanical Gardens. Local museums include the Akureyri Museum, Akureyri Art Museum, Jón Sveinsson Memorial Museum and Davíðshús.

Home to excellent restaurants and museums, this busy city is known as the Capital of Northern Iceland.
