The Helsinki Festival is an annual arts and culture festival, which takes place every August. Vappu is another annual carnival which begins on the evening of 30 April and continues to 1 May.

Rauma is a town on the west coast of Finland. It is known for its old wooden architecture of its centre (Old Rauma, Vanha Rauma), which is a Unesco world heritage site. The wooden city centre, which is how large the town was until 1809, has approximately 600 wooden buildings built in the neo-renaissance style. Rauma is also known for the high quality lace industry, and an annual Lace Week has been arranged in Rauma since 1971. During this week local craftspeople arrange small exhibitions in the Old Rauma area.
