Prague

Czech Republic, Central Bohemian region

HistoricCultureFoodNight life4 nights

The capital and the largest city in the Czech Republic, Prague boasts a magical cityscape, rich in history and culture.

Since the fall of the Iron Curtain, Prague has become one of the world's most popular tourist destinations. It is the fifth most visited European city after London, Paris, Istanbul and Rome. Prague suffered considerably less damage during World War II than some other major cities in the region, allowing most of its historic architecture to stay true to form. It contains one of the world's most pristine and varied collections of architecture, from Romanesque, to Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Neo-Renaissance, Neo-Gothic, Art Nouveau, Cubist, Neo-Classical and ultra-modern.

Cesky Krumlov

Czech Republic, South Bohemian region

Small townsHistoric2 nights

This storybook town is a must-see destination, boasting diverse and colorful architecture, a medieval castle, and a vibrant atmosphere.

Cesky Krumlov Castle is unusually large for a town of Krumlov's size; within the Czech Republic it is second in extent only to the Hradcany castle complex of Prague. Cesky Krumlov Castle preserves its Baroque theatre, built from 1680-82 under Prince Johann Christian I von Eggenberg and renovated with modern (at the time) stage equipment under Josef Adam zu Schwarzenberg from 1765-66. With this original stage machinery, scenery and props it is among only a few such court theatres that still exist. Krumlov has a museum dedicated to the painter Egon Schiele, who lived in the town.

Czech Republic, South Moravian region

Night lifeHistoricCulture3 nights

Initially an industrial hub, the Czech Republic's second largest city in fact offers a thriving cultural scene and nearby historic relics.

Brno is the second largest city in the Czech Republic. The most visited sights of the city include the Spilberk castle and fortress and the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul on Petrov hill, two medieval buildings that dominate the cityscape and are often depicted as its traditional symbols. The other large preserved castle near the city is Veveri Castle by the Brno Dam Lake. This castle is the site of a number of legends, as are many other places in Brno.
