Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland. It is located at the northwestern tip of Lake Zurich. Zurich is home to many churches and houses of the old town, the most expensive shops along the famous Bahnhofstrasse, as well as world-class museums, operas, and theater. The Lindenhof in the old town is the historical site of the Roman castle, and the later Carolingian Imperial Palace. Zurich offers a great deal of variety when it comes to night-time leisure. One of Switzerland's major cities, Lucerne offers a myriad of cultural landmarks, a beautiful lake and a lively, fun, atmosphere.

Since the city straddles the Reuss River, it has a number of bridges, the most famous is the Chapel Bridge. Old Town Lucerne is located north of the Reuss River, and has several fine half-timber structures with painted fronts. Remnants of the old town walls exist, complete with 8 tall watch towers. The twin needle towers of the Church of St. Leodegar sit on a hill above the lake. Bertel Thorvaldsen's famous carving of a dying lion is found in a park just off the Lowenplatz, commemorating the hundreds of Swiss Guards who were killed during the French Revolution. The Swiss Museum of Transport is beside the lake in the northern section of the city as well as the Culture and Convention Center.

A popular town flanked by two lakes and mountains, perfect for all manner of outdoor activities, from hiking to swimming and skiing.

The town is principally a base from which to explore the surrounding areas. Among the main attractions are the mountains of the Jungfrau region. While the peaks of these mountains are accessible only to mountaineers, a sequence of connecting mountain railways gives access to the Jungfraujoch, a coll between the Jungfrau and the Monch, the highest point in Europe reachable by train. Jungfrau Park, an amusement park, is situated south of Interlaken. Interlaken has a large selection of hotels, and is also a destination for backpackers. It has numerous backpacker-friendly hostels and companies providing guided services in skydiving, canyoning, hang gliding, paragliding, and skiing.

Ideally located on Lake Leman, Geneva has become a thriving metropolis full of cultural events, museums, music venues, and festivals.

Geneva is the second most populous city in Switzerland. Situated where the Rhone exits Lake Geneva, it is the capital of the Republic and Canton of Geneva. The opera house has the largest stage in Switzerland. It features opera and dance performances, recitals, concerts and, occasionally, theatre. The Victoria Hall is used for classical music concerts. Every summer, the Geneva Festival is organised. Hundreds of thousands of people come to Geneva to see the annual one-hour long grand firework display. Museums and art galleries are everywhere in the city. The Palace of Nations, home of the United Nations headquarters, can also be visited.
