The capital of Portugal, Lisbon is a lively city filled with restaurants, shops, buzzing nightlife, and historical sites.

Lisbon is the capital and the largest city of Portugal. Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in the world, and the oldest in Western Europe, predating other modern European capitals such as London, Paris and Rome by centuries. Julius Caesar made it a municipium called Felicitas Julia, adding to the name Olissipo. Ruled by a series of Germanic tribes from the 5th century, it was captured by the Moors in the 8th century. In 1147, the Crusaders reconquered the city and since then it has been a major political, economic and cultural centre of Portugal. Lisbon enjoys a Mediterranean climate. Among all the metropolises in Europe, it has the warmest winters.

Once a fishing village, Albufeira is now a popular resort town with beautiful beaches, buzzing nightlife and a charming old town.

After sunset, the centre of Albufeira comes alive with bars, restaurants, and shops to suit most tastes, from authentic Portuguese-fare to Irish, English, and Dutch restaurants and pubs. The tourist areas are divided into two main areas, 'The Strip', and the Old Town. The Strip's main street is full of bars, restaurants and open-air discotheques. It is a very nightlife oriented area, very popular with young people. The Old Town is situated at the seafront. Street-artists entertain the crowds and there is a large choice of restaurants, bars and shops. Albufeira has two main beaches and several important religious and architectural attractions.

This beautiful city was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its well-preserved palaces, Roman ruins and Moorish remnants.

Due to its well-preserved old town centre, still partially enclosed by medieval walls, and a large number of monuments dating from various historical periods, including a Roman Temple, Evora is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also a member of the Most Ancient European Towns Network. Evora is ranked number two in the Portuguese most livable cities survey of living conditions published yearly by Expresso. It was ranked first in a study concerning competitiveness of the 18 Portuguese district capitals, according to a 2006 study made by Minho University economic researchers.

A coastal town, set on a cliff over a long stretch of sand, popular for its beach, water sports facilities and charming old town.

Nazare has become a popular tourist attraction, advertising itself, internationally, as a picturesque seaside village. Located on the Atlantic coast, it has long sandy beaches (considered by some to be among the best beaches in Portugal), with lots of tourists in the summer. The town used to be known for its traditional costumes worn by the fishermen and their wives who wore a traditional headscarf and embroidered aprons over seven flannel skirts in different colours. These dresses can still occasionally be seen
