Lillehammer is a town in Oppland county, Norway.
It is known as a typical venue for winter sporting events, and had hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics.
In addition to the Olympic site, Lillehammer offers a number of other tourist attractions including Garmo stave church, The PS Skibladner paddle steamer and The rock carvings at Drotten, Fåberg.
there are also several sky resorts in the area including Hafjell, Kvitfjell and Sjusjøen.
The city centre is a late 19th-century concentration of wooden houses, which enjoys a picturesque location overlooking the northern part of lake Mjøsa and the river Lågen, surrounded by mountains.
