Sandomierz is a town in south-eastern Poland, situated in the Swietokrzyskie Voivodeship. It is the capital of Sandomierz County, and in the past, used to be one of the most important urban centers not only of Lesser Poland, but also of the whole country. Sandomierz is known for its Old Town, which is a major tourist attraction. Other places of note are the Sandomierz castle, the main market square, the Sandomierz cathedral, and the Sandomierz synagogue.
