Constanta, historically known as Tomis, is the oldest still populated city in Romania. It was founded around 600 BC, and it traces its history some 2,500 years. The city is located in the Dobruja region of Romania, on the Black Sea coast. It is the capital of Constanta County and the largest city in the region and is the second largest metropolitan area in Romania. It is home to the largest port on the Black Sea, and one of the largest ports in Europe. Some of its main attractions include the gorgeous Art Nouveau casino, the Ovid Square, the Roman Mosaics, the Genoese Lighthouse, the Great Mahmudiye Mosque, and the St. Peter & Paul Orthodox Cathedral.
