Nitra is Slovakia's oldest settlement and fifth largest city, serving as a cultural center to the country's southwest area.
Nitra is a city in western Slovakia, situated at the foot of Zobor Mountain in the valley of the river Nitra. It is the fourth largest city in Slovakia and is also one of the oldest cities in Slovakia, having been the political center of the Principality of Nitra. Today, it is a seat of Nitra Region and Nitra District. The city has a wealth of historic structures and natural beauty in its surroundings. The most well known points of interest are the Nitra castle, the old town and the adjacent hill, named Zobor, overlooking the city.
