Belarus Grodno

Grodno or Hrodna is a city in western Belarus. It is located on the Neman close to the borders of Poland and Lithuania, andis the capital of Grodno Region and Grodno District. The modern city of Grodno originated as a small fortress and a fortified trading outpost maintained by the Rurikid princes on the border with the lands of the Baltic tribal union of the Yotvingians. The first reference to Grodno dates to 1005. The city is known for its architectural legacy, and includes Old and New castles in its attractions, Grodno State Museum of Religion History, St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Kalozha Church, Great Synagogue, and more.

Lida is a city in western Belarus in Hrodna Voblast, situated 160km west of Minsk. There are passing mentions of Lida in chronicles from 1180. Until the early 14th century the settlement at Lida was a wooden fortress in the Lithuania proper. In 1323, the Grand Duke of Lithuania Gediminas built a brick fortress there. Its attractions include the Lida castle, several churches, and a Jewish memorial.

Mir (meaning "world" and "peace"; but the name most likely originates from the name of the river the settlement is situated on) is an urban settlement in Karelicy raion, Hrodna Voblast, Belarus on the banks of Miranka River, about 85 kilometers southwest of the national capital, Minsk. Prior to 1939 the town was in Poland. Mir village was founded sometime prior to 1345. It is home to a late medieval castle, which made the town the target of many attacks over the centuries. Its attractions are Mir Castle Complex, St. Nicholas' Church, and Church of the Holy Trinity.
