Aosta is the principal city of Aosta Valley, a bilingual region in the Italian Alps. It is situated near the Italian entrance of the Mont Blanc Tunnel. The ancient town walls of Augusta Praetoria Salassorum are still preserved almost in their entirety. In addition to traditional agriculture, Alba is a very important center of wine. In the area of Alba there are 290 wineries. Alba is also famous worldwide for its white truffles, and its annual Truffle Festival.
