Ulladulla

Australia, New South Wales region

NatureActive2 nightsWed. Dec 24 - Fri. Dec 26

Ulladulla is a coastal town in New South Wales, Australia. The name Ulladulla is an Aboriginal word meaning "safe harbor". Alternate spellings as Woolladoorh or Ngulla-dulla have been recorded. In recent years tourism has brought significant growth to the town including plans for larger shopping and recreation areas, such as the Dunn and Lewis memorial foundation center being built. The underdeveloped beaches along this stretch are mainly populated by Sydneysiders and Canberrans during holiday periods, although Canberrans largely holiday further south, to Kioloa and Batemans Bay. The area is largely unknown to Victorian holiday makers.

A great base for exploring nearby national parks, this coastal fishing town offers mild climate and pebbled beaches.

BeachesSmall townsNature2 nightsFri. Dec 26 - Sun. Dec 28

Narooma is a town in the Australian state of New South Wales on the far south coast. The town is on the Princes Highway. The name is said to be derived from the Aboriginal word meaning ‘clear blue waters’. Montague Island, a National Parks and Wildlife Reserve, is eight kilometres offshore from Narooma. Australia Rock is found at the bar crossing (where the inlet empties into the sea). The shape of Australia cut into the rock wall was accidental and was created many years ago when a ship was tied to the rock with large chains to prevent it from washing away. The chains wore the shape into the rock during rough seas and it has been known as Australia Rock ever since.

With beautiful beaches and interesting sites, this seaside town is also a great base for a visit to the Montague Island.
