Prague has been an important cultural and economic center since the reign of Charles IV in the 14th century. The city is home to iconic sites dating back as far as the 14th century, including Charles University, the oldest in Europe; Prague Castle; and, of course, the magnificent Charles Bridge, an architectural wonder that has been connecting the two banks of the Vltava River for over 600 years. The bridge contains the figures of 30 saints that were added in the Baroque period).

Rothenburg

Germany, The Romantic Road region

Small townsHistoricNature3 nightsMon. Jan 05 - Thu. Jan 08

Rothenburg is well known for its well-preserved medieval old town. It is part of the popular Romantic Road through southern Germany. In 1170 the city of Rothenburg was founded at the time of the building of Staufer Castle. In October 1631, during the Thirty Years' War, the Count of Tilly, wanted to quarter his 40,000 troops in Rothenburg. Rather than allow entrance, the town defended itself. However, Tilly's troops quickly defeated Rothenburg. and in 1634 the Black Death killed many more townsfolk. Without any money or power, Rothenburg stopped growing, thus preserving its 17th-century state. sites include The Criminal Museum, Imperial City Museum and the Rathaus (town hall).

Travel back in time in this magical city, where visitors flock to admire its beautifully preserved medieval architecture.
