Reykjavík is the capital and largest city of Iceland. Reykjavík is famous for its weekend nightlife - Icelanders tend to go out late, so bars that look rather quiet can fill up suddenly—usually after midnight on a weekend. There are over 100 different bars and clubs in Reykjavík most of them are located on Laugavegur and its side streets and it is very common for an establishment that is a café before dinner to turn into a bar in the evening.Laugavegur is also the main shopping street. Other attractions in town include the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa, National Museum of Iceland, Vikin Maritime Museum, Rauðhólar and the Heiðmörk forest.

Vic is the southernmost village in Iceland, located on the main ring road around the island. Despite its small size (291 inhabitants as of January 2011) it is the largest settlement for some 70 km around and is an important service center for the inhabitants and visitors to the coastal strip between Skogar and the west edge of the Myrdalssandur glacial outwash plain. In 1991, the US journal Islands Magazine counted Vic's beach as one of the ten most beautiful beaches on Earth.
