Few Roman remains are visible today; a fragment of the old city wall can be seen near the casino and the foundations of the amphitheatre are traced in the paving of the present-day Rembrandtstraat. The Valkhof museum, on the Valkhof, has a permanent display of the history of Nijmegen. Take a walk through town and see the 15C town hall, the Great Market, a 16C weighing hall, the entrance to St. Stephen's church courtyard, a 15C Latin school, the 13C St. Stevenskerk, as well as a series of small seventeenth-century houses that now serve as trinket shops. Nijmegen is also home to several interesting and impressive museums.

Apeldoorn is a municipality and city in the province of Gelderland in the centre of the Netherlands. Apeldoorn is home to Apenheul, a zoo which hosts a number of different types of apes and monkeys, some of which are free to walk around the visitors. There is also an amusement park situated in Apeldoorn, called the Koningin Juliana Toren (Queen Juliana Tower). The southwestern corner of the municipality is part of the Hoge Veluwe National Park. It is the final Battle Honour of The Royal Canadian Regiment who took part in the town's liberation in World War II.

The Groote Kerk, built 1452–1560, lost most of its tower during World War II, of which a part has been reconstructed to a modern design and opened in 1964. The house of Maarten van Rossum has been the town hall since 1830: The satyrs in its Renaissance ornamentation earned it the name Duivelshuis ("devil's house"). The Netherlands Open Air Museum is located outside the city. It includes antique houses, farms, and factories from different parts of the Netherlands. Burgers' Zoo is one of the biggest and most-visited zoos in the Netherlands, featuring an underwater walkthrough, desert, mangrove, rainforest, etc.
