The area hosts the Ekstremsportveko every year in the last week of June, which is regarded as the world's premier extreme sports festival. The town's position between Bergen and Flam on the scenic railway have made it popular with tourists. One of the sights on the road to Flam is the waterfall Tvindefossen.
