    Urgup is a town and district of Nevsehir Province in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey. It is located in the historical region of Cappadocia, and near the cave Churches of Goreme. According to 2010 census, the population of the district is 34,372 of which 18,631 live in the town of Ürgup. The district covers an area of 563km, and the town lies at an average elevation of 1,043m.

  • Ankara's Citadel

    Ankara is the capital of Turkey, located in Central Anatolia, and is Turkey's second largest city behind Istanbul. The city replaced Istanbul as the capital following the fall of the Ottoman Empire. Giving its name to the Angora wool shorn from rabbits, goats, and cats, Ankara is also known for its pears, honey, and muscat grapes. It is a virtual treasure trove of various archaeological sites, as well as home to nearly 50 museums, many parks, and beautiful mosques.

  • Goreme Kappadokia

    Goreme, located among the "fairy chimney" rock formations, is a town in Cappadocia, a historical region of Turkey. The time that the Goreme was first settled is unclear, but it could date back as the Hittite era, between 1800 and 1200 B.C. The location was central between rivaling empires, such as the Greeks and Persians. During the Roman era, the area became home to Christians retreating from Rome. Its main sights include the Ortahane, Durmus Kadir, Yusuf Koc and Bezirhane churches, in addition to the richly decorated Tokali Kilise, the Apple Church, and a number of homes and pigeon houses carved straight into the rock formations in the town.

    Konya is a city in the Central Anatolia Region of Turkey. It is the seventh most populous city in Turkey. Konya is an economically and industrially developed city and the capital of Konya Province. Major landmarks include the Mevlana Museum, Aladdin Mosque, Ince Minaret Medrese-Museum, Karatay Medrese-Museum, Aziziye Mosque, Konya Ethnography Museum, İzzet Koyunoglu City Museum, and the St. Paul's Catholic Church at Alaeddin Hill.

    Mustafapaşa is a belde (town) in Nevsehir Province, Turkey. It had a mixed population - Greeks and Christian Turks constituted the majority of the population and Muslim Turks constituted the rest. Although situated far from the seas Sinasiotes (Greeks from Sinasos) who temporarily migrated to İstanbul, were known to be the traders of seafood and especially caviar. The town is a part of Capadocia, a touristic region of Turkey known for fairy chimneys and medieval rock carved churches. Additionally, Cappadocia Art and History Museum comes highly recommended.

  • Eskisehir, Turkey 2009-09-27

    Eskisehir is a city in northwestern Turkey and the capital of the Eskisehir Province. The city is located on the banks of the Porsuk River, 792m above sea level, where it overlooks the fertile Phrygian Valley. In the nearby hills one can find hot springs. Known as a university town, both Eskisehir Osmangazi University and Anadolu University (which has one of the largest student enrollments in the world) are based in Eskisehir. Its main attractions include the Kursunlu Cami Mosque, Contemporary Glass Art Museum, Sazova Park, Archaeology Museum, and the nearby archaeological site of the ancient Phrygian city of Dorylaeum.

    Kayseri is a large and industrialized city in Central Anatolia, Turkey, and the seat of Kayseri Province. It is located at the foot of the extinct volcano Mount Erciyes that towers 3,916m over the city. Kayseri is rich in historical monuments, dating especially from the Seljuk period. While it is generally visited en route to the international tourist attractions of Cappadocia, Kayseri has many visitor's attractions by its own right: Seljuk and Ottoman era monuments in and around the city center, Mount Erciyes as a trekking and alpinism center, Zamantı River as a rafting center, Archeological Museum, Mimar Sinan Mosque, Ethnography Museum, Kayseri Citadel, and more.

  • Avanos, Turkey

    Avanos is a town and district of Nevsehir Province in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey, located within the historic and tourist region of Cappadocia. The old city of Avanos overlooks the longest river of Turkey, the Kizilirmak, which also separates Avanos from the rest of Cappadocia. The most famous historical feature of the town, still relevant and very visible today, is its production of earthenware pottery. The ceramic trade in this district date back to the Hittites, and the ceramic clay from the red silt of the Kizilirmak has always been used. It is a popular destination because of its attractive old town with cobbled streets, and views over the river.

    Nigde is a town and the capital of Nigde Province in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey at an elevation of 1,300m. The town is located between the volcanic Melandiz Mountains, which include the Mount Hasan stratovolcano near the city of Aksaray to the north, and the Nigde Massif to the south-southeast. One of the most historically important places in Turkey is near Nigde - the Gumusler Monastery, the Hudavend Hatun Turbe, ancient city of Tyana, as well as the Aladaglar and Bolkar Mountains, which provide great opportunities for mountaineering and trekking.
