  • 2008 08 14 - 2100 - Yaremche - Town Center

    Yaremche is a city in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast (province) of west Ukraine. It is administratively incorporated as a town of oblast significance and is the center of Yaremche Municipality which includes the urban-type settlement of Vorokhta, a ski resort, and five other villages: Mykulychyn, Polianytsia, Tatariv, Voronenko, and Yablunytsia. The city is located at the altitude of around 580m above mean sea level. Yaremche hosts the headquarters of the nearby Carpathian National Nature Park. If you're in town, be sure to visit the lovely St. Elias Wooden Church.

  • Bukovel

    Bukovel is the largest ski resort in Eastern Europe situated in Ukraine, in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast (province) of western Ukraine. The resort is located almost on the ridge-lines of the Carpathian Mountains at elevation of 900m above the sea level near the village of Polianytsia. It is one of the most popular ski resorts in the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains and is situated 30km southwest of the city of Yaremche. In 2012 the Bukovel was named the fastest-growing world ski resort.

  • La Nube (Explore!)

    Ivano-Frankivsk is a historic city located in the western Ukraine. It is the administrative center of the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. Built in the mid 17th century as a private fortress of the Polish Potocki family, with the partition of Poland in 1772 Ivano-Frankivsk was passed to the Habsburg Empire, after which it became the property of the State authorities of the Austrian Empire. It was during that time that the fortress was transformed into one of the most prominent cities at the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains. Main attractions of the city include the main square, Shevchenko Park, Holy Resurrection Cathedral, and the surrounding nature.

  • Carpathian hiking trip (august 2007)

    Vorokhta is an urban-type settlement located in the Carpathian Mountains and is part of Yaremche Municipality. Historically, it is a tourist spa town and later was also turned into a ski resort with several ski-jumping ramps (Avanhard). Due to a constant flow of tourists, its population almost year round is bigger than average. Located on the height of 800 meters above sea level, it is known for its close ties to the Hutsuls - an ethno-cultural group of Ukrainians who live in the Carpathians, often regarded as a Hutsul capital. Be sure to visit the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin if you're in the area.
