Reading is a large town in the ceremonial county of Berkshire. It is an important commercial centre in the Thames Valley and Southern England, and Reading town centre is a major shopping centre. The main shopping street is Broad Street, which runs between The Oracle in the east and Broad Street Mall. Every year Reading hosts the Reading Festival - on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the August bank holiday weekend. The Reading Beer Festival is also held here annuall every May. Local landmarks include The Maiwand Lion in Forbury Gardens - an unofficial symbol of Reading, The Blade building, Jacksons Corner, Reading Abbey, Greyfriars Church, St Laurence's Church, and Reading Minster.
