Croatia Primorje-Gorski Kotar

Krk is a Croatian island in the northern Adriatic Sea, located near Rijeka in the Bay of Kvarner and part of Primorje-Gorski Kotar county. Krk has historically been a center of Croatian culture. A monastery lies on the small island of Kosljun in a bay off the coast of Krk. Krk belonged to the Republic of Venice during much of the Middle Ages until its dissolution, when its destinies followed those of Dalmatia. It became part of the kingdom SHS, later Yugoslavia, after World War I, in 1920. After that date, the village of Veglia/Krk remained the only predominantly Italian-speaking municipality in Yugoslavia. After WWII, most of the Italians left.

Rijeka is home to several interesting sites. Tvornica "Torpedo" (the Torpedo factory), the first European prototypes of a self-propelled torpedo, created by Giovanni Luppis, a retired naval engineer from Rijeka. The remains of this factory still exist. Svetište Majke Božje Trsatske – the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Trsat. Built 135 m (443 ft) above sea level on the Trsat hill during the late Middle Ages, it represents the Guardian of Travellers, especially seamen, who bring offerings to her so she will guard them or help them in time of trouble. Old gate or Roman arch still stands, as does Rijeka Cathedral, dedicated to St. Vitus.

The old 14C Benedictine abbey, Opatija Sv. Jakova, from which the town derives its name is located in St. James's Park. St. James's church, built in 1506 now stands on the same spot. The neo-Romanesque Church of the Annunciation with its pronounced green cupola, was designed in 1906 by architect Karl Seidl. Another sight is the Villa Angiolina, built in 1844 by Iginio Scarpa. This villa, transformed into a museum. Opatija is known for the Maiden with the seagull, a statue by Zvonko Car (1956). The town park Angiolina contains many species of plants from all over the world. There is a 12 km-long promenade along the entire riviera, the Lungomare from Volosko, via Opatija, to Lovran.

The island of Rab was first mentioned in a Greek source dating to 360 BC and then by other Greek and Roman geographists by the name Arba. That name belonged to the Liburnians, the oldest known inhabitants of the island. Arba was the name of the Liburnian settlement in the modern city of Rab. It is not certain how old this name is; it may be as old as the settlement, which means from the beginning of the Iron Age, since the Liburnians did not build the city walls on the island. The Illyrian-Liburnian word Arb meant 'dark, obscure, green, forested'. Therefore Arba should be comprehended as meaning "Black island", due to the rich pine forests that once grew on the island.

Mali Lošinj is a town and municipality in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, on the island of Lošinj, in western Croatia. At the time of the 2011 census, there were 8,116 inhabitants, of whom 86% were Croats. The favorable climatic conditions, the construction of hotels and resorts, foresting and maintenance of beaches have led to an intensive development of tourism. The village is located in the most protected part of the Losinj bay. The town lies mostly on the eastern, sunny side of the island.

This cultural and historical center with its old stone houses and narrow streets, has been a tourist destination since 19C, and has developed into a popular resort. It is known for its inscribed stone monument from 1100, for its many surrounding beaches, and its long tradition in tourism.

Crikvenica is the largest settlement on the coast of the Vinodol coastal area, Croatia, and developed on the site of Roman era settlement and military base called Ad Turres. The city is situated on the Adriatic near Rijeka in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar county. In the last twenty years, due to urban expansion of Crikvenica itself and expansion of the nearby town of Selce, the two were merged into a mini-conglomerate.

Veli Lošinj is a village on the island of Lošinjin Primorje-Gorski Kotar County in western Croatia. Veli Lošinj has a mild climate and caters to tourists. It is located 5 km from the town of Mali Lošinj. It was an important port and fishing centre until the late 19th century. Today it is known as a tourist and aromatherapy centre.

Cres is basically a city on the bay, as its town docks come directly into the middle of the city and are filled with boats. There is a car park at the entrance to the city, along with multiple restaurants and a gas station. Upon entering the city through one of the gates there are narrow paths you must walk through, of houses and small stores. In the center there is an open piazza, with people selling different homemade goods. There are also shops and open air restaurants in which people can sit on the edge and watch the boats come in.
