Athens is the capital and largest city of Greece, and is one of the world's oldest cities, with its recorded history spanning around 3,400 years and the earliest human presence around 11th–7th millennium BC,. The National Garden of Athens was completed in 1840 and is a green refuge in the centre of the Greek capital. Athens' largest zoo is the Attica Zoological Park, a private zoo located in the suburb of Spata. The zoo is home to around 2000 animals representing 400 species, and is open 365 days a year. The city is a world centre of archaeological research. Apart from national institutions there are several archaeological Museums, including the National Archaeological Museum.

Parikia is the capital and the main port of Paros island. It is distinguished by its narrow cobbled paths, the old churches, the small shops and the houses in blue and white. Parikia is today one of the most popular and busiest spot of the island, as its restaurants along the waterfront attract many visitors. Parikia is also famous for its vivid nightlife, which makes it along with Naoussa village the two busiest tourist resorts of Paros. The trademarks of Parikia are the preserved windmill in the port and the Venetian Castle and the most famous monument in Parikia is the church of Panagia Ekatontapiliani, which hosts the Ecclesiastical Museum of Parikia.

Agios Nikolaos is a coastal town on the Greek island of Crete, lying east of the island's capital Heraklion. The town sits partially upon the ruins of the ancient city of Lato pros Kamara. Agios Nikolaos is best known as a tourist town that serves as a hub to the twenty or so small villages and farms that make up that part of Lassithi. Tourist attractions include the small lagoon Lake Voulismeni, small beaches in the town, the tiny island Agioi Pantes, the archaeological museum, the local flora exhibition “Iris” and numerous fairs. The lagoon features a small park with a trail, traditional fishing boats, ducks, pigeons, an amphitheatre and many cafès.

As the capital of Crete, Heraklion was nearly destroyed during WWII, yet it retains its warm atmosphere and welcoming culture.

In 1858, the old city, now known as Archaia Korinthos was totally destroyed by an earthquake. New Corinth was then built on the coast of the Gulf of Corinth. The Corinth Canal, carrying ship traffic between the western Mediterranean Sea and the Aegean Sea, is about 4 kilometres east of the city. Natural features around the city include the narrow coastal plain of Vocha, the Corinthian Gulf, the Saronic Gulf, the Oneia Mountains, and the monolithic rock of Acrocorinth, where the medieval acropolis was built.

Thessaloniki is the second-largest city in Greece and the capital of Macedonia. Sofia is the capital and largest city of Bulgaria and is the 15th largest city in the European Union. The city is located at the foot of Vitosha Mountain in the western part of the country, within less than 50km drive from the Serbian border. Its location in the center of the Balkan peninsula means that it is the midway between the Black Sea and the Adriatic Sea, whereas the Aegean Sea is the closest to it. Sofia has been an area of human habitation since at least 7000BCE and is Europe's second-oldest city. Belgrade is the capital and largest city of Serbia. It is located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, where the Pannonian Plain meets the Balkans. Its name translates to White City. In 1979, the historic center of Split was included into the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. Split is said to be one of the centres of Croatian culture. Its literary tradition can be traced to medieval times, and includes names like Marko Marulić, while in more modern times Split excelled by authors famous for their sense of humor. Among them the most notable is Miljenko Smoje, famous for his TV series Malo misto and Velo misto, with the latter dealing with the development of Split into a modern city.

Aachen is a spa town in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Aachen was a favoured residence of Charlemagne, and later the place of coronation of the German kings. Geographically, Aachen is the westernmost city of Germany. Aachen Cathedral was erected on the orders of Charlemagne in AD 796 and was, on completion, the largest cathedral north of the Alps. It was modelled after the Basilica of San Vitale, in Ravenna, Italy, and was built by Odo of Metz. On his death, Charlemagne's remains were interred in the cathedral and can be seen there to this day. The cathedral was extended several times in later ages, turning it into a curious and unique mixture of building styles.

Venice is a city in northeastern Italy sited on a group of 118 small islands separated by canals and linked by bridges.
