Cairns

Australia, Queensland region

NatureActiveNight lifeFood3 nightsThu. Jan 01 - Sun. Jan 04

Tourism plays a major part in the Cairns economy. The Cairns region is the fourth-most popular destination for international tourists in Australia after Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. There is a growing interest in Cairns from the Chinese leisure market with occasional direct flights from Chinese cities such as Shanghai and Guangzhou. The city is near the Great Barrier Reef, the Wet Tropics of Queensland, and the Atherton Tableland. The Cairns esplanade includes a swimming lagoon with adjoining barbecue areas.

A great base for exploring the majesty of the Great Barrier Reef, Cairns is also the starting point for many amazing hikes and treks.

Jerusalem

Israel, Jerusalem region

HistoricCultureNight lifeFood3 nightsSat. Jan 10 - Tue. Jan 13

From the top of the Mount of Olives, we look down at the spectacular view of Jerusalem, the holy city. It is the only city in the world that has two dimensions: first, the earthly Jerusalem that we see in front of us across the Kidron Valley, and the other, the ethereal Jerusalem that has been etched for thousands of years in the minds, prayers, and dreams of Christians, Muslims, and Jews throughout the world. This is the city where the prophets walked, where King David composed the Book of Psalms, and where the House of God was, all turning Jerusalem into the eternal city.

usalem, the Eternal City, holy to Jews, Christians, and Muslims, combines rich, diverse history and relics with modern attractions, culture, and cuisine.

Christchurch is the largest city in the South Island of New Zealand and the seat of the Canterbury Region. The Christchurch urban area lies on the South Island's east coast, just north of Banks Peninsula. It is home to 381,800 residents, making it New Zealand's third most-populous urban area behind Auckland and Wellington. The river that flows through the center of the city (its banks now largely forming an urban park) was named Avon at the request of the pioneering Deans brothers after the Scottish River Avon, which rises in the Ayrshire hills near what was their grandfather's farm and flows into the Clyde.

New Zealand's third-largest city boasts an array of architectural styles, landmarks of cultural significance, and many green areas.
