    Magdeburg is situated on the Elbe River and was one of the most important medieval cities of Europe. Emperor Otto I, the first Holy Roman Emperor, was buried in the town's cathedral after his death. The Lutheran Cathedral of Saints Catherine and Maurice with a height of 104 m, the highest church building of eastern Germany. It is notable for its beautiful and unique sculptures.     Naumburg is a city in Germany, on the Saale River. Naumburg is in a wine-growing region, with numerous vineyards in the surrounding area. The most important architectural landmark of the city is St. Peter and Paul's Cathedral, an impressive late Romanesque and Gothic Cathedral, built between the 13th and 15th centuries. Other attractions include: The late Gothic city hall. The Gothic St. Wenceslas Church, which displays paintings by Lucas Cranach the Elder and the Hildebrandt organ that Johann Sebastian Bach played on. The former bishop's castle Schönburg, which overlooks the city and the Saale River.

    Quedlinburg is a town in the district of Harz, Germany. In 1994 the medieval court and the old town were set on the UNESCO world heritage list. Some places in town with Romanesque architecture are part of the holiday route Romanesque Road, such as St. Servatius' church at the castles hill, St. Wigbert's church down the valley and St Marie's church on the Montsion's hill. In the innermost parts of the town, a wide selection of half-timbered buildings from at least five different centuries are to be found. The cathedral is a prime example of German Romanesque style. The Domschatz, the cathedral treasure containing ancient Christian religious artefacts and books, is on display here.

    Halle is a city in the southern part of the German state Saxony-Anhalt. Halle is a very important economy and education-center in east Germany. The University of Halle-Wittenberg is the biggest university in Saxony-Anhalt and one of the oldest Universities in Germany. Main sights : Halloren Chocolate Factory and visitors' centre, the oldest chocolate factory in Germany. Giebichenstein Castle, first mentioned in 961, in the north of the city centre on a hill above the Saale river, with a museum in the upper castle and the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in the lower castle.

  • Lutherstadt Wittenberg

    Wittenberg is a town in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany situated on the River Elbe. The importance of Wittenberg historically was due to its seat of the Elector of Saxony, a dignity held by the dukes of Saxe-Wittenberg and also to its close connection with Martin Luther and the dawn of the Protestant Reformation; several of its buildings are associated with the events of this time. Wittenberg is home to numerous historical sites, as well as portraits and other paintings by Lucas Cranach the Elder and Younger. Martin Luther's home, the Lutherhaus, where he studied and lived both before and after the Reformation, is now a museum containing many artifacts from his life.
