    Westport is a town in County Mayo in Ireland. It is at the south-east corner of Clew Bay, an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean on the west coast of Ireland. The town centre was designed by James Wyatt in 1780, in the Georgian architectural style and is one of only a few planned towns in the country. It was the home of the pirate chief Grace O'Malley in the mid-to-late 16th century. in 2012 it also won the Best Place to Live in Ireland competition run by The Irish Times. Visitors visit Westport for several reasons: the scenery; the pubs and restaurants in the town; blue flag beaches; and Croagh Patrick. its hotels and guest houses, make it a base for holidaymakers to tour the region.

    Ballina is a town in north County Mayo, Ireland. It lies at the mouth of the River Moy near Killala Bay, in the Moy valley. The town has some notable architecture, including the 15th-century Moyne Abbey and St Muredach's Cathedral. Ballina has a very lively entertainment scene and a variety of restaurants serving Irish, European and Asian cuisine. The town also hosts the annual Fesant Fest music festival. The Ballina Salmon Festival is held annually in July in the town. The festival includes Heritage Day, where most of the centre of the town is closed to traffic and the streets fill with arts and craft stalls and demonstrations of transport from days gone by.

  • Cong Bridge

    Cong is a village straddling the borders of County Galway and County Mayo, in Ireland. Cong is situated on an island formed by a number of streams that surround it on all sides. Cong is the home of Ashford Castle, one of Ireland's finest hotels, converted from a Victorian faux lakeside castle, built by the Guinness family and is a tourist attraction in its own right. Cong also has a fine example of a ruined medieval abbey, Cong Abbey, where Rory O'Connor, the last High King of Ireland, is buried. It also is the origin of Celtic art in the form of a metal cross shrine called the Cross of Cong. The 'Cross of Cong' is now held in the National Museum of Ireland, Dublin.

    Castlebar is the county town of County Mayo, Ireland. It is in the middle of the county and is its largest town by population. Castlebar is the location for important festivals and traditions, among which is the International Four Days' Walk blues music festival. The town is home to The Linenhall Arts Centre, which exhibits visual art throughout the year, as well as hosting live drama and music performances. Castlebar is traditionally a market town, and it is still a major destination for shoppers from all over the west of Ireland and boasts an increasing number of national and international chain stores.
