Tallinn is the capital and largest city of Estonia. Tallinn occupies an area of 159.2 km2 and has a population of 438,569. It is situated on the northern coast of the country, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, 80 km south of Helsinki, east of Stockholm and west of Saint Petersburg. Tallinn's Old Town is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is ranked as a global city and has been listed among the top 10 digital cities in the world. The city was a European Capital of Culture for 2011, along with Turku in Finland. Approximately 32% of Estonia's total population lives in Tallinn.

Rakvere is a town in northern Estonia and the county seat of Laane-Viru County. Rakvere is known now for its Tarvas statue of an aurochs, which was made by the Estonian sculptor Tauno Kangro. It is thought to be the largest animal statue in the Baltic countries. The Lutheran church of Rakvere, the Trinity church, originally dates from the 15C and was designed to also be able to function as a stronghold in times of trouble. Renovations were carried out 1727–1730, and again during the middle of the 19C, when the church received its present look, dominated by its neo-Gothic spire. The interior displays some fine craftsmanship, including a Baroque pulpit from 1690 made by Christian Ackermann.

Narva is the third largest city in Estonia. It is located at the eastern extreme point of Estonia, at the Russian border, on the Narva River which drains Lake Peipus. Narva is dominated by the 15th-century castle, with the 51-metre-high Long Hermann tower as its most prominent landmark. The sprawling complex of the Kreenholm Manufacture, located in the proximity of scenic waterfalls, is one of the largest textile mills of 19th-century Northern Europe. Other notable buildings include Swedish mansions of the 17th century, a Baroque town hall (1668–71), and remains of Erik Dahlberg's fortifications.

Situated 186 km southeast of Tallinn, Tartu is the center of southern Estonia and lies on the Emajogi ("Mother river"), which connects the two largest lakes of Estonia. Voru is a town and a municipality in south-eastern Estonia. It is the capital of Voru County and the centre of Voru Parish. Voru was founded on 21 August 1784, according to the wish of the Empress Catherine II of Russia, by the order of Riga Governor general count George Browne, on the site of the former Voru estate. The town is situated on the shore of Lake Tamula. Voru has a humid continental climate with warm summers and cold winters.

Otepaa is a town in Valga County, southern Estonia, it is the administrative centre of Otepaa Parish. Otepaa is a popular skiing resort, popularly known as the "winter capital" of Estonia (in contrast to the "summer capital" Parnu). It is the site of an annual FIS Cross-Country World Cup event. The earliest surviving firearm in Europe has been found in the ancient castle of Otepaa and it dates to at least 1396.

Viljandi is a town and municipality in southern Estonia. It is the capital of Viljandi County. The town was first mentioned in 1283, upon being granted its town charter by Wilhelm von Endorpe. The town became a member of the Hanseatic League at the beginning of the 14th century, and is one of five Estonian towns and cities in the league. The popular Estonian newspaper Sakala was founded in Viljandi in 1878.

Haapsalu is a seaside resort town located on the west coast of Estonia. Haapsalu has been well known for centuries for its warm seawater, curative mud and peaceful atmosphere. Salt mud spas frequented by the Russian Romanov family still operate. Narrow streets with early 20th century wooden houses repeatedly lead to the sea. Haapsalu has been called the "Venice of the Baltic." The name "Haapsalu" is from Estonian haab 'aspen' and salu 'grove.

Kuressaare, also known as Arensburg, is a town and a municipality on Saaremaa island in Estonia. It is the capital of Saare County and the westernmost town in Estonia. The town is situated on the coast of the Gulf of Riga and is served by the Kuressaare Airport, Roomassaare Harbor, and Kuressaare Yacht Harbor. The town, which grew around the fortress, was simultaneously known as Arensburg and Kuressaarelinn; the latter name being a combination of Kuressaare—an ancient name of the Saaremaa Island—and linn, which means town.
