Slovenia Lower Styria

Maribor is the second-largest city in Slovenia. Many medieval structures still stand in Maribor. Of the remains of city walls, the most prominent are the Judgement Tower, the Water Tower, and the Jewish Tower. The Maribor Cathedral was built in the Gothic style in the 13th century. The Town Hall was constructed in the Renaissance style. Every January the skiing resort of Mariborsko Pohorje, situated on the outskirts of the city on the slopes of the Pohorje mountain range, hosts the women's slalom and giant slalom races for the Alpine Skiing World Cup known as Zlata lisica. Every June the two-week Festival Lent is held, with hundreds of musical, theatrical and other events.

Celje is the third-largest town in Slovenia. Located below Upper Celje Castle at the confluence of the Savinja, Hudinja, Ložnica, and Voglajna rivers in the lower Savinja Valley. Local sights in town include a Grayfriars' monastery founded in 1241 and a palace from the 16th century.
