    Chuncheon is the capital of Gangwon Province, South Korea. The city lies in the north of the county, located in a basin formed by the Soyang River and Han River. There are some large lakes around the city, most notably Lake Soyang and Lake Uiam. The area is renowned for its small river islands, such as Sangjungdo, Ha-Jungdo, Bungeodo, and Wido. It is a popular destination among east Asian tourists as it was featured in the popular Korean drama Winter Sonata. It is where the resort island of Namiseom is located.

    Gangneung is a city in Gangwon-do, on the east coast of South Korea. Gangneung is the economic center of the Yeongdong region of Gangwon Province. Gangneung has many tourist attractions, such as Jeongdongjin, a very popular area for watching the sun rise, and Gyeongpo Beach. There are a number of historical remains and museums in Gangneung. The most prominent being the Ojukheon Museum, which includes one of the oldest wooden buildings in Korea. Several shrines and old residential buildings deliver insight into the lives of local Koreans dignitaries. Next to the Ojukheon Museum there is the Gangneung Municipal Museum which shows folklore and antique pieces from the history of the city.

    Sokcho is a city in Gangwon-do province, South Korea. It is located in the far northeast of Gangwon-do. Abai Maeul was originally set up as an area to house North Korean refugees in Sokcho due to the separation of the two Koreas. Consequently, many of the population have relatives in North Korea. Today, Sokcho receives a number of tourists attracted by the closeness to the DMZ. The city is also a well-known gateway to nearby Seoraksan national park. Tourist attractions include Seoraksan, Cheoksan hot spring, Sokcho Beach, Shinheungsa and Abai village.

    Donghae is a city in Gangwon Province, South Korea. There are two major ports: Donghae Harbor and Mukho Harbor. Donghae City is located in the central region of the east coast of Korea in Gangwon-do. Jeongseon county to the west and Gangneung city to the north. It contains the southern terminus of the Donghae Expressway, and the No. 7 national way passes through the city. The city is mostly mountainous and has natural resources such as Mureung Valley and beautiful beaches. Here, the high Taebaek Mountains lie along the eastern coast, preventing rivers from meeting the coast. However, in the rainy season, spontaneous water flow is possible.

    Yangyang is proud to unite the five major religious influences in South Korea: Confucianism, Buddhism, Shamanism, Protestantism and Roman Catholicism. There are sites for all these movements in Yangyang. The Seonghwangsa is a shamanistic altar which was traditionally used for sacrificial rites. Yangyang Hyanggyo is a Confucian school, built in 1340. Today the school mainly serves as a shrine, but some classes are still held at the site. In 1921 the Yangyang Cathedral was built. During the Korean War it was burnt to the ground, but rebuilt after.
