Sweden Uppland

The Stockholm Archipelago is the capital city of Sweden and is made up of fourteen islands (and about 50 bridges). It is the largest archipelago in the country and has gained the moniker “the Venice of the North”.  It is in the southwestern region of Sweden, situated where Lake Mälaren meets up with the Baltic Sea.

Uppsala is the capital of Uppsala County and the fourth largest city of Sweden. The Fyris river divides the city into two parts: the historic quarter to the west of the river and the modern residential and commercial city centre to the east. The historic quarter is the site of the oldest university in Scandinavia, founded in 1477 and the 16th century Uppsala Castle. Additionally, many historic buildings remain, especially in the western part of the city, with the most outstanding building in Uppsala being the Cathedral, which is Scandinavia's largest church building. The Gustavianum, which contains several museums is another point of interest.

Sigtuna is a locality situated in Stockholm County, Sweden. Although less significant today, Sigtuna has an important place in Sweden's early history. It is one of the oldest towns in Sweden, having been founded in 980. Sigtuna has a picturesque medieval town centre with restaurants, cafes and small shops. The old church ruins, runic stones and Stora gatan and the old main street, are popular attractions for tourists especially in the summertime. There are several restaurants and a hotel in the town centre.
