Mackay is a city on the eastern coast of Queensland, Australia, on the banks of the Pioneer River. The Rocks, as the Sydney natives call the historic city center, was the shore where the first settlers of the city docked. The area became notorious during the 19th century as a center for poverty, neglect, prostitution, and crime.

About a half-mile walk from The Rocks, perched on Observatory Hill - the highest point above the bay - stands the Sydney Observatory.

At the famous Wild Life Sydney Zoo, you can meet kangaroos along with a large variety of other animals. One of two zoos in the city (the other is Taronga Zoo), it was opened in 2006 and is located in Darling Harbour near the Sea Life Aquarium.
