Ísafjörður is a town in the northwest of Iceland. The local folk museum contains the oldest house in Iceland, built in 1734, and the largest collection of old timber frame houses in Iceland is in this area. The town hosts varied and widely popular events in the realms of both culture and outdoor recreation. These events include The Ski Week Festival, Við Djúpið and Aldrei fór ég suður music festivals and the Act Alone theatre festival. The Westfjords Heritage Museum is located in town giving visitors an insight of the local Westfjords fisheries and fishing industry as well the life of the fishermen, their families and the coastal culture through the centuries.
