Bialystok is the largest city in northeastern Poland and the capital of the Podlaskie Voivodeship. Located in the Bialystok Uplands on the banks of the Biala River, Bialystok ranks second in terms of population density, eleventh in population, and thirteenth in area, of the cities of Poland. Bialystok has traditionally been one of the leading centers of academic and artistic life in Podlaskie, and serves as one of the largest cultural centers in the Voivodeship. The attractions include the Branicki Palace, the Orthodox Cathedral, art and historical museums, various performance groups, and a wide variety of parks and green spaces.

Suprasl is a town in north-eastern Poland. It is the home of the Suprasl Lavra, one of six Eastern Orthodox monasteries for men in Poland. It is also famed for housing the splendid Icons Museum. The Codex of Suprasl, the oldest Slavic literary work in Poland and one of the oldest of its kind in the world, is named after the Suprasl Lavra. Since September 2007 it has been on Unesco's Memory of the World list.

Tykocin is an old, smaller size town in north-eastern Poland, with 2,010 inhabitants, and is one of the oldest settlements in the region. The Jewish population of Tykocin estimated at 2,000 people was eradicated by Nazi Germans during the Holocaust. Its main attraction is the Baroque Tykocin Synagogue, drawing thousands of visitors every year. Additional points of interest include the Tykocin Castle, a baroque Church of the Holy Trinity, a former monastery, and a Jewish Cemetery.
