Switzerland Graubunden

Davos is located on the Landwasser River, in the Swiss Alps, between the Plessur and Albula Range. Besides being famous for cross country skiing, Davos also offers the largest natural ice skating field in Europe. There are six main ski areas in winter. All areas offer summer transport as well on to the main peaks. The remote side valleys heading towards the Engadin area are worth the long hikes. Davos is home to seven sites that are listed as Swiss heritage sites of national significance, including the Town Archives, the Kirchner Museum, the Grosses Jenatschhaus, and the Forest Cemetery. Several hotels and spas are also included on the list.

St. Moritz is a resort town in the Engadine valley in Switzerland and it is the highest summit in the Eastern Alps. It is a popular destination and thanks to its favorable location, St. Moritz enjoys over 300 days of sunshine a year. Every winter it hosts the "White Turf" horse race on the frozen Lake St. Moritz. Popular pastimes include skiing, snowboarding, and hiking, and nearby there is also the world famous Cresta Run toboggan course. St. Moritz is also well known as a destination for sailing. The main sights include the Plazza da Scoula, St. Moritz library, The Segantini Museum, the bobsled run, viewing the glacier landscape, and the 3300 metres high Piz Corvatsch.

Chur is situated at the right shore of the Rhine River and is known as the oldest town of Switzerland. Chur is home to many sites that are listed as Swiss heritage sites of national significance. There are two archeological sites in Chur, the old medieval city and Welschdörfli a prehistoric settlement and Roman Vicus. The list also consists of four archives or libraries, four museums, three churches, as well as 15 other buildings that are also heritage sites. The town is home to the Giger Bar designed by the Swiss artist H. R. Giger, the Old Town, the art gallery, and the natural history museum.

Zuoz is a traditional Engadin village, with cobblestoned streets, an elegant town center and several beautiful old buildings. In the winter it offers a large family ski resort. In the summer it has a golf course and hiking trails. Zuoz is home to the famous "Posthotel Engadina", a hotel with 2 restaurants, a cafe, a pool and newly refurbished rooms. As well as the Hotel Castell, a magnificent 5-star hotel with several restaurants, a sauna and an outdoor mountain pool, as well as many works of art and fantastic scenery. Zuoz still retains many of its ancient traditions, inherited from the Roman empire. The Chaplutta S. Bastiaun and Chasa Pult are Swiss heritage sites of national significance.

Arosa is a town and a municipality in the district of Plessur in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. It is both a summer and a winter tourist resort. Arosa has a well-known and safe skiing area and boasts over 60 kilometers (37 mi) of slopes. The archeological site of Carschlingg near Castiel, a prehistoric, late-Roman and Early Middle Ages settlement, and the Langwieser Viaduct for the Rhätischen Bahnare listed as Swiss heritage site of national significance. The hamlets of Medergen, Sapün and Strassberg are all part of the Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites.

Guarda is a municipality in Inn District in the Swiss canton of Graubunden, located in the Sur Tasna sub-district of the Inn district on a terrace above the left bank of the Inn river. It consists of the linear village of Guarda above the valley and the settlement of Giarsun along the valley floor. In 1975 the Swiss Heritage Society awarded Guarda the Wakker Prize for the preservation of its architectural heritage. The award notes that it is one of the best preserved and characteristic villages of the Unterengadin. It notes that the municipality struggled with a harsh landscape and the demands of tourism as well as the migration of young people from the village into the cities of Switzerland.

Klosters is well known ski resort which lies 150 km from Zurich, the nearest international airport. Transfer time is about 1.5 hours. Klosters is 10 km from Davos. It is a popular ski location and the slopes are easily accessible via a large cable car. Klosters is well known as a favorite ski resort for Charles, Prince of Wales and subsequently one cable car to the top of Gotschnagrat is named the "Prince of Wales". The Reformierte Kirche am Platz is listed as a Swiss heritage site of national significance.

Pontresina consists of the old village sections of Laret, San Spiert as well as Giarsun and the new sections on the mountain slopes. Nearby glaciers include the Morteratsch Glacier and the Roseg Glacier. The Morteratsch has a ski lift and a long run down the glacier. The Roseg Valley has a groomed cross-country ski trail along its length. The Church of S. Maria, Grand Hotel Kronenhof and the Spaniola tower are listed as Swiss heritage sites of national significance. The church has several significant paintings on the walls. A historical transport route of wine across the alps passes Pontresina and continues towards Davos across Scaletta Pass.

Müstair is a village in the Val Müstair municipality in the district of Inn in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. The easternmost point of Switzerland, at Piz Chavalatsch, is located in the municipality. The main tourist attraction in the area is the Benedictine Convent of Saint John. Müstair has an area of 77.7 km2, 24.1% is used for agricultural purposes, while 21.1% is forested, 0.6% is buildings or roads and the remainder rivers, glaciers or mountains. The village is located in the Val Müstair sub-district of the Inn district. It is a long linear village and is the lowest and largest village in the Val Müstair.

Soglio is close to the border with Italy. It is part of the municipality of Bregaglia. Soglio lies on a ledge on the mountainside on the northern side of the Val Bregaglia above the river Maira, with views across the valley to the Bondasca glacier and the peaks of the Sciora group, Piz Cengalo and Piz Badile in the Bregaglia Range. The Casa Antonio No. 139 and Casa Battista no. 131, also known as the Hotel Palazzo Salis, are both listed as Swiss heritage sites of national significance.
